Kadans Science Partner has recently won the best Refurbished/Recycled Workplace for the Midlands and Central England region from the British Council for Offices’ (BCO).  The BCO is Britain’s leading member organisation for leading, debating, and discussing the office sector within the UK.

The building was unanimously acclaimed by the judging panel for its transformation from an unused metal shed into a cutting-edge life-science facility. Sub-divisible laboratory and office spaces co-exist with vibrant, communal areas that are served by a café and dramatically planted winter gardens. The overall effect is of a multi-tenanted building that feels light, open and genuinely collaborative, encouraging interaction between neighbouring start-up companies.

The success in this regional category win now means that Sycamore House is entered into the National awards, where it will compete against other workplaces in the same category from around the country.

As the first property purchased and developed in the UK by the Kadans team, this win is testament to the quality of the development, the design of the space by our architects Owers Warick Architects, and the commitment of our colleagues to deliver the best experience for our tenants within the building.

Kadan’s Development Director Edward Jolin was delighted with the award and noted that “it has been a privilege to be part of this amazing project and a true testament of how buildings can be recycled to fit with modern uses.”

Stevenage House was formally opened last week by our UK Managing Director James Sheppard, the CEO of UK Bioindustry Association Steve Bates OBE, Rob Shaw of Innovate UK, Adrian Hawkins OBS of Herefordshire LEP and the CEO of Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst Dr Sally Ann Forsyth OBE.
